To reach your clients, you need to know who they are, what they need and where they hang out. If you can’t get clients, you will find it hard to sell your products and services. Here are three tips to help you get the right customers and to keep them.
1- Stop selling to Everyone
When the Probox was introduced to the Kenyan market, it elicited sharp love and hate sentiments. There was no grey area! Some hated it because of its matchbox look and sharp angles. Others loved it for its sober fuel consumption and versatility of use as a business or private vehicle.
To reach clients who will keep coming back for your products or services, you need to have a clear knowledge of what you are offering to who. When you do, you attract some clients and repel others and that’s okay. As James Karundu says, to stop selling to Everyone, have ‘the Probox mentality: love me or leave me!’
2- Define your client
Who is your customer? How old is she? What does she do? Where does she live? How does she relax? Where does she hang-out on social media? What does she want? Know your customer so well that you could draw her avatar. Such an image will help you define your value proposition and set prices that she can afford.
3- Engage with your client
To sell your products or services, have an ongoing conversation with your customers and potential ones. Join social media groups that are relevant to them and where you know conversation happens. According to Global Stats Counter, Kenyans prefer Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram. I find that Telegram and Snap Chat are also gaining in popularity.
Get your (potential) clients’ phone numbers so that you can send them personalized messages. For that, set up a newsletter or use Google forms to conduct a survey, or for special offers. On the form, make filling in the phone number optional. People recoil at giving you their phone number if you make it mandatory, but will gladly do so if you give them a choice.
Do you use any of these methods? How does it work for you?
The launch Top Achievers Network’s platform is scheduled for January 4th. The recording of the masterclasses can be exhilarating or frustrating in turns, but it’s mostly amusing. To wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, we have prepared you a video with some of our bloopers. Enjoy!
