How can I start my own business with no money?

So you’ve decided to start your own business. Whether you have some capital to invest in it or not, there is one fundamental task you need to undertake before you take any step. The result of that task will give you the foundation on which to build a solid business. This vital task is to find your purpose.

1- What’s a Purpose?

You are unique. In our whole universe, there was never and there will never be anyone like you. You have a unique way to see our world. You are here for a unique reason, to make a contribution to our world in your unique way.

2- Find your Purpose

The most effective way to identify your purpose is to think about the day of your funeral. Many people don’t like to think about death, but we all know it will come someday. Why not use it to give your life direction? I’ve used this method many times and find it quite effective. And every time, I get the same answers. Here is how you can go about it.

a. Set time aside when you will be quiet and undisturbed to do this task.

b. Take a notebook and write down what you wish every person who will attend your funeral to say about you. Think about what you wish your parents, your siblings, your uncles and aunts, your cousins, your friends, your classmates, your workmates and your business associates to say about you on that day.

It’s obvious that you can’t write about each individual, apart from your parents. Imagine what the representative of each category will say. If your parents are not alive, write about them still.

c. Make a list of the answers in bullet format. Tally similar answers as you go.

Here’s an example of how your tally should look like:

– peacemaker //// //

– lover of nature ////

d. The first 3 answers are your purpose in life.

Your purpose serves as a guide for your life. Whether you build one business or 100 ventures, your purpose will be their common thread. With purpose, you will know which of your passions to pursue. Should you ask a “What business can I start with XXX money” question on social media and get 600 answers, you’ll be able to pick the suggestions that match your purpose.
