Who Do You Get Advice From?

Who do you go to when you need advice on how to run your business? Especially when it comes to money matters? Your best friend? Your parents? Your siblings? The watchman? The kind of people some of us turn to for advice when we feel stuck is absolutely mind boggling!

mentoring

The people we get advice from are key to our success or failure in business. Such people impact on how we view and feel about our business. They shape our mindset and our vision. That’s why it’s important to select them carefully.

The best person you should listen is your role model; the one who has achieved what you are aspiring to. Take every opportunity you can grab to meet them in person. You will be astounded by how many high achievers are ready to mentor upcoming entrepreneurs. If they are on social media, follow them and for God’s sake, don’t be a silent observer! Engage with them by asking questions and sharing your opinions.

However most top achievers we look up to are not within our reach, simply because as individuals they can only do so much. But remember that your role model grew into their current position step by step. Do the same. Look for a person who is just a step or two ahead of you. Someone who is making progress, has a positive attitude and is resilient. Such a person will help you reach their level from which someone else that you don’t know yet will take over. Consider yourself like a standard 3 pupil who is being assisted to do homework by as standard 4.

The people you get advice from on your entrepreneurship journey are very important. Choose them carefully. Stop wasting time with the wrong ones. So who do you listen to?
