3 Reasons Why You Are Not Reaching Your Goal

Are you feeling confused, frustrated and stunned that, despite your best efforts your goal looks like a moving target? You seem to move one step ahead and two steps backwards? I’ve been in a similar situation several times in my journey. With time I’ve come to identify the three simple reasons that could be holding you on the spot and stopping you from making headway. Either you aren’t happy doing what you do, you haven’t found your life purpose or your goals aren’t in the sweet spot.

  1. Taking a step backward after a step forward is not a disasterYou aren’t happy doing what you do
Note that I’m not saying that “you don’t find happiness in what you do”. I’m saying that you aren’t happy doing what you do. True happiness doesn’t come as a result of something happening to you, or you doing something and experiencing a certain outcome. Happiness is a choice you make beforehand. You first choose to be happy. You deliberately decide that you will be happy in every moment of your life. Then you take action by only doing only things that make you happy.
How about things that we must do, whether you like them or not? Like when you are everything in your business at the beginning or domestic chores? Well, just find reasons to enjoy such activities.
Being happy doing what you do is the single most important ingredient in the success recipe. Find reasons and excuses to be happy and things will start to fall into place.
  2. You haven’t found your life purpose
Before I found my life purpose, I spent days writing and sending application letters, chasing jobs that never materialised; then I spent sleepless nights wondering what I was doing wrong and why God had forgotten me. We are all here for a reason. As long as you don’t know your life purpose, you will keep chasing success, or just money, and going through one frustrating experience after the other.
The day I discovered my life purpose, which is to contribute to peace using my gift of writing, my life finally got on track. There are different techniques that you can search for and use to find why you are here on this planet. On Wednesday I will share with Top Achievers the powerful technique that helped me discover my life purpose. 3. Your goals aren’t in the sweet spot
Coaches and mentors teach us to set goals that are SMART, i.e. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Result-oriented and Time-based. However, no matter how SMART your goal is, if it’s not in the sweet spot, you won’t achieve it.
What’s the sweet spot? The sweet spot is when you have total faith, when you are absolutely certain that you will achieve your goal. When your goal is in the sweet spot, whenever you think about it you are excited. You don’t have a shadow of a doubt that it will come to pass, even if you don’t have an idea of how and when that will happen. You are 100% sure that it will come to pass. Don’t confuse a strong desire with a sweet spot!

Which one of the three points is related to the challenges you are facing today?
